Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book?

Head to the booking page on the website and fill in the form.

Where is the retreat held?

Most of our retreats are held in Melmerby Hall near Penrith. You can learn more about the venue here.

How do I get there?

If you are coming by train then you’ll want to get to Penrith and from there it’s a short taxi ride (which we can help coordinate). You can drive to the venue as well, there is plenty of parking.

Are meals included in the booking?

Yes. We cater for three meals a day, plus cake and nibbles throughout.

I have special dietary requirements, can you cater for that?

We are happy to cater for your dietary requirements so long as they aren’t life threatening nut allergies, the space isn’t equipped for that. If you have a specific question, please feel free to drop us a line.

Is there a dog at the retreat?

Yes, usually Carmen’s Irish Setter, Peaches is in attendance. She likes to test all sofas for the best snoozing location.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately not, there is a two dog limit at the house and it’s too tricky introducing dogs that don’t know each other.

Can I bring my partner?

This is a knitting retreat and therefore we don’t take bookings for non-knitting partners.

What is the schedule like?

This depends on the type of retreat you book. Our class led retreats usually have about 6 hours of instruction per day (3 hours before lunch and 3 hours after), while our Classic Retreats usually only have one scheduled optional activity per day. We like to keep things relaxed, you are here to indulge in your craft and get some time away from real life.

I don’t know if I’m a ‘good enough’ knitter?

Rubbish! Can you use two sticks to create loops with a piece of string? Great, you’re a knitter and you are welcome. For the class led retreats we will let you know what skills you’ll need to participate comfortably.

I’m nervous to attend something with people I don’t know

We hear this a lot and we’d like to put you at ease and let you know that this retreat is for you, so if you don’t want to participate in every activity or you want to spend alone time in your room, then you are welcome to do so. We work hard to facilitate a friendly, welcoming environment for everyone. We promise no one bites.

I’ve booked but now I can’t attend, can I get a refund?

Please see our full T&Cs for our cancellation policy.
