Bath Luxury Knitting Retreat - November
An exclusive, luxury retreat set in the heart of the historic city of Bath, returning again in November 2026.
An intimate one this year — as the Royal Crescent Hotel puts some of its rooms through a refurbishment, we've kept November small on purpose. Fewer beds, same indulgence, and a headline pairing we've been dying to bring to Bath.
Meet Max & Vincent - our headline instructors
Some teachers you book because of their CV. Others you book because you already know that spending the week with them is going to be a joy. Max and Vincent are both.
Maxim Cyr and Vincent Deslandes are the duo behind Les Garçons, the Montreal knitwear and yarn studio known for its clean, modern, gender-inclusive designs and for a following that treats their YouTube show like appointment viewing. Max brings a children's book illustrator's eye for shape and story to every pattern. Vincent is the problem solver of the pair, forever chasing the construction that makes a sweater actually work on a body, not just on paper.
Carmen has known them for years - this isn't a cold booking, it's a reunion. "We've been collaborating and getting into trouble together for a long time," she says. "Getting them to Bath has been on my wish list and our schedules have finally aligned. I couldn't be more excited for you to meet them."
Amanda Jones returns
Knitwear Designer & Instructor
Amanda has been designing knitwear for most of her adult life, with well over 150 published patterns to her name; from cosy cabled cowls to socks, sweaters and everything in between. Her designs have been commissioned by The Knitter, Laine and many more and among her career highlights, she once knitted a bespoke cardigan which she personally presented to the Queen.
She's been part of the A Yarn Story team for a decade, both in the shop advising on yarn and fit, and teaching workshops on everything from beginner basics to sweater construction. Her specialty is the technical detail that makes a garment actually fit - measurements, bust darts, fit adjustments, and how to shape a design around a real body rather than a size chart. She's known for a teaching style that's patient and encouraging first, technical second - the kind of instructor who gets as much satisfaction watching a beginner leave with a new skill as she does from her own designs.
Bath, dressed for Christmas
Our November retreat takes place just as the Bath Christmas Market opens, when the city transforms into one of the most magical winter destinations in the UK. Wooden chalets fill the streets around Bath Abbey, lights glow across the historic buildings, and the air is filled with the warmth and excitement of the festive season.
This retreat will celebrate the beauty of Bath at Christmas, blending luxury knitting experiences with the atmosphere of the city in winter.
A Special Evening at the Roman Baths
Our private evening at the Roman Baths returns, timed to coincide with Bath's Christmas Market — stone, steam, and candlelight, with the market just outside the door when you're ready to wander and shop.
During the evening you will enjoy a performance by the Bath Mummers, bringing the traditions and storytelling of the region to life in a wonderfully atmospheric setting.
The Hotel
You will stay at the iconic, 5 star Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, which we will have exclusive access to over the four night stay. This beautiful hotel nestles in the prestigious Royal Crescent, an impressive landmark built between 1767 and 1775 which forms a sweeping crescent of 30 Grade I listed terrace houses, overlooking the Royal Victoria Park. A familiar sight to many, due to its popularity as a location for Film and TV Productions, from classic Jane Austen adaptations such as Persuasion (2022) to The Duchess (2008) and the fantastic Netflix series Bridgerton.
The hotel consists of beautifully appointed bedrooms and suites, communal meeting spaces, restaurant and bar, an acre of gardens and a Spa and Bath House, all yours for the true VIP experience.

The Secrets of Sweater Construction with Les Garçons
Ever backed out of a gorgeous sweater pattern because you weren’t quite sure how it was built, or because the instructions mentioned the dreaded "S-word" (seaming)? Instead of committing to months of knitting a full-sized garment, join our sweater construction & finishing workshop, where we’ll be crafting adorable, low-risk mini-sweaters to decode the anatomy of every major style.
What you’ll master in this technique-packed class:
• The Blueprint: Weigh the pros and cons of top-down, bottom-up, raglan, saddle, and drop-shoulder constructions (and many more!) so you always know what to expect.
• The Finishing Touches: Learn the mechanics behind flawless invisible seams, picking up crisp necklines, and using the "short tail" trick to create perfectly symmetrical shoulders.
Leave "sleeve island" behind and start building your "handmade luxury" wardrobe.
